Hey guys! I finally figured out how to enable https with google's free ssl security certificate to my custom domain blogger blog!
Let me tell you, I've been a busy little bee these last few weeks. We've been getting the shop set and opened back up and getting the blog all beautified and ready for the big reveal! Okay so, no big reveal, no parting of the canvases, no big showy party, but a secure site nonetheless!
That's right people, my little blog is https official. If your like me you have scoured the web looking for a way to enable the free https on a custom domain blogspot blog. However, you keep running into roadblocks and "free" apps that can solve your https woes. I have found the light people and let me tell you it's as easy as 1-2-3.
Up until now it’s been a nightmare for us bloggers who use a custom domain on the blogspot platform to enable the security certificate. Since google has announced that blogs with https will rank higher in search results this is a must have for your blog!
Why you should have a security certificate on your blog even if you don't sell anything!
That little green lock in your address bar, that helps people feel secure when they come to your site. You wouldn't dare sign up for an email list if your computer was screaming at you that you have entered an unsecure site... would you? I for one would not.
We as bloggers do everything we can to improve our SEO am I right?
SSL security certificates can help your websites rank higher in search results!
It's true Google announced that they would in fact use https as a ranking signal! This is huge people! Why would we shoot ourselves in the foot, when changing our site over to a secure connection is literally easy as 1-2-3?
Basically all you have to do is log into your account via draft.blogger.com. In your basic settings you will find the https is editable in this version. Seriously simple as that.
You can do a lot of research on the beta version. I was worried when I did it because I feared broken links and and falling in google rankings for a short time. However my site came through with flying colors. I have since tested my most viral pins to make sure they are redirecting properly and all came through for me!
You can find the full tutorial that I followed here! They have an abundance of knowledge and everything is explained is great detail! So what are you waiting for? Get your site secure!
Is this the way you changed over your https? Or did you go the app route? Let me know~
Have an awesome day friends!

Michelle
